About Me
Hey, I'm Gabe, a Masters Computer Science student at Texas A&M University graduating in Spring 2026 with interests in software engineering, data science, and cybersecurity. What drives me is helping others make data driven decisions by building machines to make data more accessible and understandable. I'm passionate about learning and staying curious about new technologies and their applications. I believe that the best ideas come from geniune conversation, collaboration and connection, so feel free to reach out!

Experience
Worked on an SRE/SWE team to design and implement a production-safe metadata update system used by Site Reliability Engineers. The project evolved from a Python-only solution into a cross-language utility leveraging Go, Python, and Protobuf-based RPC to improve reliability, maintainability, and operational safety in production environments.
Key Contributions
- Designed and scoped multiple implementation strategies, producing detailed design documents, architecture diagrams, and system audits to evaluate tradeoffs.
- Refactored an existing Python server architecture and handler hierarchy to enable seamless integration of production-safe metadata updates.
- Built a cross-language utility composed of a Golang CLI interface and a refactored Python backend via Protobuf-based RPC messaging.
- Improved reliability and operational safety by implementing structured RPC validation and clear failure handling mechanisms.
- Delivered a production-grade tool that acts as a 'last line of defense' for SREs, enabling safe remediation of live production issues.
Worked in an Agile Scrum team to deliver cloud-based internal tools leveraging AWS services and enterprise database systems. Contributed to cross-functional projects spanning data analysis, backend architecture, and machine learning prototyping, culminating in a high-performance NLP classification model.
Key Contributions
- Collaborated in a Scrum-based Agile environment, participating in full sprint lifecycles and peer reviews to deliver production-ready features.
- Built a cloud-integrated internal tool mapping performance managers to enterprise Oracle records using AWS S3 for storage and AWS Lambda for serverless compute.
- Delivered an end-to-end compliance analytics solution for the ProfitTime GPS product, correlating consumer adherence with profitability metrics.
- Strengthened engineering fundamentals through paired programming and the application of industry-standard design patterns in a cloud-native environment.
- Named Company Hackathon Finalist for developing an NLP classification model for vehicle parts, achieving a 0.002% performance difference from the production model.
Projects
Optimizing Network Intrusion Detection Systems (NIDS)
A research study that evaluated and optimized various machine learning models (Random Forest, SVM, CNN) for identifying malicious web traffic using the CIC UNSW-NB15 Augmented Dataset. Achieved high-accuracy multi-class classification and reduced false alarm rates through systematic hyperparameter tuning using Optuna and Hyperopt.
Aggie Wine Glass
iOS app that helps users discover wine by the glass at local restaurants in the College Station Area. The app combines web-scraped wine data from Vivino with a custom recommendation pipeline that adapts to user taste preferences through interactive onboarding and swipe-based feedback. Built with a SwiftUI frontend and a backend that handles data ingestion, ranking, and API delivery.
Global Spotify Trends: Regional & Temporal Analysis
A data mining study on global Spotify Top 200 charts (2017-2021) across 60+ countries. Applied K-Means and DBSCAN clustering on audio features to identify 4 distinct music profiles, then built a Song2Vec (Item2Vec) pipeline to generate cultural embedding vectors and quantify how regional music taste shifts over time.
Lung and Colon Cancer Classification
Developed a high-precision Vision Transformer (ViT) model to classify lung and colon cancer histopathological images. Achieved 99.63% accuracy in differentiating between benign and malignant cells, significantly outperformed standard benchmarks for early diagnostic support.
Personal Portfolio
Modern portfolio website built with Next.js and Chakra UI hosted on Vercel. Features glassmorphism design, project showcase with filterable tabs, and smooth animations.
A&M Club Golf Team App
Full-stack mobile application designed for managing Texas A&M Club Golf operations. The app streamlines team logistics by allowing officers to manage tournaments, team events, and leaderboards while members can view schedules, receive updates, and track competition details. Built with a SwiftUI frontend and a Vapor backend, this system features RESTful APIs, a PostgreSQL database with role-based access patterns, and automated event and match generation to support real-world club workflows.

Leadership
Leadership Philosophy
I believe leadership is about empowering growth, rooted in empathy and revealed through resilience. Great leaders understand people, invest in their development, and stay grounded when facing adversity.
In practice, that means designing clear systems, communicating the why behind decisions, and creating space for others to bring their ideas forward. My goal is to make complex problems feel approachable so teams can contribute together.
My Values
Competition
I am energized by measurable goals and healthy rivalry that pushes teams to exceed expectations.
Justice
I care deeply about fairness, transparency, and making sure people are treated with consistency and respect.
Optimism
I have the belief that things can get better, and the conviction to make it happen.
Determination
I stay with hard problems longer than most, relying on effort to turn ideas into reality.
Zachry Leadership Program Reflection
The Zachry Leadership Program (ZLP) has been one of the most formative parts of my time at Texas A&M. Over five semesters, I explored the pillars of self-awareness, empathy, creativity, purpose, and wisdom through retreats, reflections, and honest conversations with my cohort and mentors. The program pushed me to examine not just how I lead, but why I lead, and how my decisions affect the people and systems around me. ZLP has given me a community of thoughtful, driven peers who support me. They instilled habits for learning and listening—something I’ll carry into every team I join. I’m deeply grateful to be a part of the ZLP family and to have had this experience.
Pillars of Leadership
Understanding my strengths, blind spots, and default reactions so I can choose how to show up instead of simply reacting. This includes seeking feedback, reflecting on outcomes, and noticing patterns in how I lead and follow.
After understanding myself, the next step is to understand others. Empathy is about connection. This connection is found through listening and vulnerability, and it is critical to building trust and understanding.
Creativity is not limited to the arts. It is about finding new ways to solve problems and make things better. Everyone has the ability to be creative; it's a skill to refine and something for a leader to bring out in others.
Purpose is not only important for being a good leader, but for living a fulfilling life. Being able to evaluate your surroundings and how they align with your values is the key to aligning purpose with action.
Wisdom is the ability to combine all of the above pillars while refining your skills and knowledge. It's about learning from experiences, growing as a person, and becoming a better leader.
